Host modulation therapy for improving the osseointegration of dental implants under bone healing-suppressed conditions: a preclinical rodent-model experiment
CONCLUSIONS: Host modulation by increasing the CS level may enhance the osseointegration of dental implants placed under conditions of impaired bone healing.PMID:37857517 | DOI:10.5051/jpis.2301800090 (Source: Journal of Periodontal and Implant Science)

Novel approach to assessing the primary stability of dental implants under functional cyclic loading < em > in vitro < /em > : a biomechanical pilot study using synthetic bone
CONCLUSIONS: In synthetic mandibular models, the cyclic reciprocal loading of dental implants with an average masticatory force produces significant loosening. The evasive movements observed in the alveolar bone suggest that its anatomy and yielding could significantly influence the force distribution and, consequently, the mechanical behaviour of dental implants. The 3D visualisation of the overall implant movement under functional cyclic loading complements known methods and can contribute to the development of implant designs and surgical techniques by providing a more profound understanding of dynamic bone-implant inte...

Comparing the clinical effects of local administration of minocycline ointment and doxycycline solution in the treatment of acute periodontal abscesses: a retrospective clinical study
CONCLUSIONS: Local and adjunctive administration of doxycycline and minocycline in combination with drainage exhibited clinical advantages over drainage alone in improving PD and BOP. Notably, a doxycycline solution of 300 mg/mL was more effective than a 2% minocycline ointment.PMID:37857519 | DOI:10.5051/jpis.2300800040 (Source: Journal of Periodontal and Implant Science)

A large animal model of periodontal defects in bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw: a comparison of clinical and radiological findings
CONCLUSIONS: Evaluating residual defects in bone blocks from sheep using CBCT analysis was found to be as effective as a clinical examination conducted by specialists in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The strong correlation between radiological findings and clinical conditions suggests that CBCT may become increasingly important in the future, particularly in periodontological research related to BRONJ.PMID:37681353 | DOI:10.5051/jpis.2204860243 (Source: Journal of Periodontal and Implant Science)

Risk indicators associated with peri-implant diseases: a retrospective cross-sectional study of Colombian patients with 1 to 18 years of follow-up
CONCLUSIONS: In this study population, oral hygiene, periodontal status, preoperative alveolar ridge status, implant placement protocol, implant length, and the quality of coronal restoration appear to be robust risk indicators for both PIM and PI. Additionally, the length of follow-up and functional loading time are robust indicators of PI. Furthermore, the potential modifying relationships of age and smoking status with the MD and BL widths of restoration may be crucial for the development of PI.PMID:37681355 | DOI:10.5051/jpis.2300140007 (Source: Journal of Periodontal and Implant Science)
