Establishment of local diagnostic reference levels for computed tomography with cloud-based automated dose-tracking software in Turkey
CONCLUSION: There is a need to update the NDRLs for CT protocols in Turkey. Until new NDRLs are established, local institutions in Turkey can initiate the optimization process by comparing their dose distributions to the LDRLs established in our study. Automated dose-tracking software can play an important role in establishing DRLs by facilitating the collection and analysis of large datasets.PMID:37650522 | DOI:10.4274/dir.2023.232265 (Source: Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology : The Turkish Society of Radiology)

Use of gelatin sponge to seal the biliary tract after percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage in patients with liver transplants
Diagn Interv Radiol. 2023 Aug 31. doi: 10.4274/dir.2023.232344. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPercutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) is commonly used in the treatment of malign and benign biliary pathologies. Certain complications after PTBD may occur, such as biliary fistula, biliary leakage, bilioma, and hematoma. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of using a sterile gelatin sponge to seal the biliary tract after PTBD in patients with liver transplants to prevent complications. A total of 131 biliary drainages were introduced in 97 patients, and a sterile gelatin sponge was ...

Artifact characterization of Nitinol needles in magnetic resonance imaging-guided musculoskeletal interventions at 3.0 tesla: a phantom study
CONCLUSION: To minimize needle artifacts, it is recommended to use FAs of 40°-60°, a ST of >7 mm, and, if possible, an IA of 45°-60°. The visibility of the target lesion and the needle's artifact behavior must be weighed up against each other when choosing the ST, while higher FAs (40°-60°) and matrices (224 × 224/256 × 256) are associated with low artifacts and sufficient lesion visibility.PMID:37592882 | DOI:10.4274/dir.2023.232262 (Source: Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology : The Turkish Society of Radiology)
