Large language models in radiology: fundamentals, applications, ethical considerations, risks, and future directions
Diagn Interv Radiol. 2023 Oct 3. doi: 10.4274/dir.2023.232417. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWith the advent of large language models (LLMs), the artificial intelligence revolution in medicine and radiology is now more tangible than ever. Every day, an increasingly large number of articles are published that utilize LLMs in radiology. To adopt and safely implement this new technology in the field, radiologists should be familiar with its key concepts, understand at least the technical basics, and be aware of the potential risks and ethical considerations that come with it. In this review article, the authors provide an ove...

Reproducibility of rCBV in glioblastomas using T2*-weighted perfusion MRI: an evaluation of sampling, normalization, and experience
CONCLUSION: The inter-reader reproducibility of rCBV measurement was poor to moderate regardless of whether it was calculated by neuroradiologists, general radiologists, or residents, which may indicate the need for automated methods. Choosing five ROIs and using the centrum semiovale as a reference area may increase reliability for all users.PMID:37789677 | DOI:10.4274/dir.2023.232442 (Source: Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology : The Turkish Society of Radiology)

Prostate zones and tumor morphological parameters on magnetic resonance imaging for predicting the tumor-stage diagnosis of prostate cancer
CONCLUSION: The morphological parameters of the prostate zones and tumors on the MRIs are simple and valuable diagnostic factors for predicting the T-stage of patients with PCa, which can help make accurate diagnoses and lateral treatment decisions.PMID:37787046 | DOI:10.4274/dir.2023.232284 (Source: Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology : The Turkish Society of Radiology)

Usefulness of antegrade foam sclerotherapy for portal hypertensive variceal bleeding
CONCLUSION: Antegrade foam sclerotherapy using 3% STS for variceal bleeding is clinically safe and effective. Moreover, antegrade foam sclerotherapy can be a useful treatment option for patients with active variceal bleeding in emergency cases.PMID:37745308 | DOI:10.4274/dir.2023.232245 (Source: Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology : The Turkish Society of Radiology)

Long-term follow-up results of multiparametric prostate MRI and the prognostic value of PI-RADS: a single-center retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSION: The PI-RADS category has a significant impact on patient management and provides important diagnostic and prognostic information. Higher initial PI-RADS categories are associated with decreased follow-up losses, a shorter time to PCa diagnosis, increased biopsy rates, a higher likelihood of developing cs-PCa during follow-up, and a worse PCa prognosis. Combining mPSAD with PI-RADS categories could enhance diagnostic stratification in the identification of cs-PCa.PMID:37724756 | DOI:10.4274/dir.2023.232414 (Source: Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology : The Turkish Society of Radiology)
