The relationship between sleep, perfectionistic strivings, perfectionistic concerns, and academic and sports performance in young athletes
This study supports the notion that high levels of perfectionistic strivings in young athletes may mitigate the adverse effects of poor sleep habits in young athletes.PMID:37919967 | DOI:10.1080/07420528.2023.2273828 (Source: Chronobiology International)

Salivary cortisol concentration and perceived stress measure in response to acute natural stress: The role of morningness-eveningness preference
Chronobiol Int. 2023 Nov 2:1-7. doi: 10.1080/07420528.2023.2276203. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTChronotype reflects the morningness-eveningness preference over a 24-h period. Significant data indicates meaningful differences between evening types (ET) and morning types (MT) in behavior, personality traits, health and well-being. The aim of this study was to investigate cortisol response and subjective perceived stress of MT and ET individuals in response to an acute natural stressor. Twenty six definite MT (mean age 23.4 ± 1.7) and twenty six definite ET (mean age 23.8 ± 1.3) college students were recruited for this st...

Chrononutrition behaviors, sugar-sweetened beverage consumption, sleep quality and the association with body mass index among Malaysian women
Chronobiol Int. 2023 Oct 27:1-13. doi: 10.1080/07420528.2023.2267679. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe present study aimed to determine the association between chrononutrition behaviors, sugar-sweetened beverage intake, and sleep quality among Malaysian women. A cross-sectional study using a validated, self-administered Chrononutrition Profile Questionnaire, Beverage Questionnaire and Sleep Quality Index were conducted among 934 Malaysian women. Multinomial logistic regression was performed to obtain odds ratios of being overweight/underweight and to test the association with poor sleep quality. 40% of Malaysian women wer...

Time-related variations in viability of random pattern skin flaps: An experimental study in rats
This study aimed to explore the chronobiological implications of surgical outcomes. The rats were divided into four groups. A random pattern dorsal skin flaps were elevated in all groups at six h intervals. Flap necrosis rates and melatonin, oxidant, and antioxidant factors were studied. Flap survival was better in the 06:00 h group. The flap necrosis was higher in the 18:00 h group. Some of the biochemical parameters displayed circadian variations. As an independent variable, the time of surgical intervention changed the flap survival rates. It should be noted that the study was held in a nocturnal animal model thus the p...
