Phosphotungstic Acid Clusters decorated Znln2S4 Nanoflowers as Molecular-scale S-scheme Heterojunctions for Simultaneous H2 Evolution and Benzyl Alcohol Upgrading
ChemSusChem. 2024 Apr 23:e202400575. doi: 10.1002/cssc.202400575. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSimultaneous utilization of photogenerated electrons and holes to achieve overall redox reactions is attractive but still far from practical application. The emerging step (S)-scheme mechanism has proven to be an ideal approach to inhibit charge recombination and supply photoinduced charges with highest redox potentials. Herein, a hierarchical phosphotungstic acid (H3PW12O40, HPW)@Znln2S4 (ZISW) heterojunction was prepared through one-pot hydrothermal method for simultaneous hydrogen (H2) evolution and benzyl alcohol upgrading. ...

ChemSusChem. 2024 Apr 22:e202400227. doi: 10.1002/cssc.202400227. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBenzoheteroles are promising structural scaffolds in the realm of medicinal chemistry, but sustainable synthesis of 2,3-difunctionalized benzoheterole derivatives is still in high demand. Indeed, we have conceptually rationalized the intrinsic reactivity of propargylic-enyne systems for the flexible construction of 2,3-disubstituted benzoheteroles through radical sulfonylative-cyclization cascade under organophotoredox catalysis. We hereby report an efficient visible-light-induced sulfonyl radical-triggered cyclization of 1,6-en...

Triazine-Carbazole-Based Covalent Organic Frameworks as Efficient Heterogeneous Photocatalysts for the Oxidation of N-aryltetrahydroisoquinolines
In this study, a triazine-carbazole-based covalent organic framework (COF-TCZ) was designed as highly porous material with conjugated donor-acceptor networks, and feasibley synthesized by the Schiff condensation of 4,4',4''-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)trianiline (TAPB) and 9-(4-formylphenyl)-9H-carbazole-3,6-dicarbaldehyde (CZTA) under the solvothermal condition. Considering the effect of linkage, the imine-linked COF-TCZ was further oxidized to obtain an amide-linked covalent organic framework (COF-TCZ-O). The as-synthesized COFs show high crystallinity, good thermal and chemical stability, and excellent photoactive prope...

It is urgent to develop efficient strategies to convert them to valuable products. Very recently, two novel approaches for plastic recycling were reported by Huber et al. (Science, 2023, 381, 660-666) and Liu et al. (Science, 2023, 381, 666-671) , where polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plastics were converted into potentially valuable products, such as alcohols, aldehydes, surfactants, and detergents. The two processes achieved complete degrad...

Understanding corrosion behavior of aluminum current collector in LiFSI electrolyte
ChemSusChem. 2024 Apr 18:e202400164. doi: 10.1002/cssc.202400164. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCycling aging is the one of the main reasons affecting the lifetime of lithium-ion batteries and the contribution of aluminum current collector corrosion to the ageing is not fully recognized. In general, aluminum is corrosion resistant to electrolyte since a non-permeable surface film of alumina is naturally formed. However, corrosion of aluminum current collector can still occur under certain conditions such as lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (LiFSI)-based electrolyte or high voltage. Herein, we investigates the corrosion of ...

Manganese Oxide / Silica catalysed Decarboxylative Ketonization of Aliphatic Carboxylic Acids in a Continuous Flow Reactor
ChemSusChem. 2024 Apr 18:e202400094. doi: 10.1002/cssc.202400094. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe sustainable synthesis of long carbon chain molecules from carbon dioxide, water and electricity relies on the development of waste-free, highly selective C-C bond forming reactions. An example for such a power-to-chemicals process is the industrial-scale fermentation for the production of hexanoic acid. Herein, we describe how this product is transformed into 6-undecanone via decarboxylative ketonization using a heterogeneous manganese oxide / silica catalyst. The reaction reaches full conversion with near-complete selectivi...
