Self-reported impulsivity in women with borderline personality disorder: the role of childhood maltreatment severity and emotion regulation difficulties
ConclusionIn the context of current conceptualizations of BPD and previous research, findings suggest that problems with emotion regulation may be related to a history of childhood maltreatment, which may in turn enhance impulsivity. Targeting emotion dysregulation in psychotherapy and discussing it in relation to childhood maltreatment can help decreasing impulsive behaviors in individuals with BPD. Given the correlational design of our study which does not allow causal conclusions, future studies have to employ prospective, experimental designs and include larger sample sizes to corroborate associations between childhood...

Longitudinal associations between non-suicidal self-injury and borderline personality disorder in adolescents: a literature review
ConclusionsThis review highlights the paucity of data that are available examining the longitudinal association between NSSI and BPD  within adolescent samples. Thus, it is not possible to reliably comment on how NSSI and BPD are related over time. Future studies will benefit from the measurement of BPD symptoms in very early adolescence, and concurrent measurement of NSSI as well as other forms of suicidal behaviours across ado lescence. The development and theoretical application of an implementation framework for dialectical behaviour therapy: a critical literature review
ConclusionTo our knowledge this is the first published review exploring DBT implementation. The literature synthesis suggests some tentative recommendations which warrant further exploration. For instance, if DBT implementation is not pre-planned, having someone in the organisation who champions DBT can be advantageous. However, as the literature is limited and has methodological limitations, further prospective studies of DBT implementation are needed. A whole of school intervention for personality disorder and self-harm in youth: a pilot study of changes in teachers ’ attitudes, knowledge and skills
ConclusionsProviding school counsellor led structured approaches, to help class teachers identify and respond to youth in distress, closed identified gaps. Results indicated improvements in class teachers ’ knowledge and attitudes towards self-harm and BPD. The intervention also improved the capacity of schools to plan and implement strategies to reduce the impact of mental health problems on the young person and their peers. A stay-at-school psychological care approach was fostered by enhancing pa rtnerships between class teachers and school counsellors. (Source: Borderline Personality Disorder and Emotion Dysregulation)

Borderline personality disorder and substance use disorders: an updated review
AbstractFor decades, clinicians and researchers have recognized that borderline personality disorder (BPD) and substance use disorders (SUDs) are often diagnosed within the same person (e.g., (Gunderson JG. Borderline personality disorder: A clinical guide. Washington, D.C.: American Psychiatric Press, 2001; Leichsenring et al., Lancet 377:74-84, 2011; Paris J. Borderline personality disorder: A multidimensional approach. American Psychiatric Pub, 1994; Trull et al., Clin Psychol Rev 20:235-53, 2000)). Previously, we documented the extent of this co-occurrence and offered a number of methodological and theoretical explanat...

Rapid emotional response and disadvantageous Iowa gambling task performance in women with borderline personality disorder
ConclusionsThis is the 1st evidence of an emotive type of impulsivity, representing a type of affective instability that is linked to poor IGT DM in BPD.
