Online video psychoeducation for electroconvulsive therapy in India: A randomized controlled trial
AbstractDespite its effectiveness, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) has been widely but diminishingly used in India. The current study evaluated a video psychoeducation on ECT offered to adults in India who screened positive for depression. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either video or brochure psychoeducation. Both video and brochure psychoeducation significantly improved participants' perceptions, knowledge, and willingness to receive ECT with only a few significant differences between the two modalities. Together, these findings suggest that psychoeducation is effective. Video psychoeducation which can b...

Parasympathetic activity as a potential biomarker of negative symptoms in patients with schizophrenia
DiscussionThe negative association between negative symptom severity and parasympathetic activity was significant, which may inspire further research into the corresponding treatment, the mechanisms, and the use of HRV as an applicable biomarker for treatment response. Using therapeutic drug monitoring to personalize clozapine dosing in Asians
AbstractThis narrative review on clozapine blood levels or therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) includes sections focused on drug clearance and TDM, personalized dosing with TDM, clinical applications of TDM in Asians, and areas needing further study. Asian patients need half the clozapine dose (D) used in the United States to get the same blood concentrations (C). The concentration ‐to‐dose (C/D) ratio measures drug clearance. In the United States, the average clozapine patient usually needs from 300 to 600 mg/day to reach 350 ng/mL. US male smokers reach this therapeutic C with a D of 600 mg/day (C/D ratio of 0.60...

Association between arterial hypertension and depressive symptoms: Results from population ‐based surveys in Peru
