Louisiana Mother Knows 8 Vaccine Doses Killed Her 2 Month-Old Son
Two month-old Reid Thomas Englehart was vaccinated on May 20, 2015. He was given eight vaccine doses, which included the DTaP, Hib, polio, pneumococcal, hepatitis B and the oral rotavirus vaccines. These are the routine vaccines given to two month-old babies, even premature babies, in the United States and elsewhere. [1] At the time of his appointment, Reid was still wheezing from a previous infection and still had a residual cough, but his doctor insisted it was fine to vaccinate him, after a test came back that Reid was negative for pertussis. Nine days later, without a struggle and without any obstruction of his airways...

Could Dangerous Mandatory Vaccines Containing Aluminum Salts be Responsible for Microcephaly in Brazil?
Conclusion There is mounting evidence to suggest that vaccinations and medications containing aluminum salts are harmful to brain development. We need to ask ourselves why a vaccination known to contain well above the recommended levels of aluminum has been passed as safe for use in pregnancy by the Brazilian Health Ministry. For more information on the dangers of aluminum, I recommend parents read the growing number of articles, studies and peer-reviewed papers that the Children’s Medical Safety Research Institute have listed on their website.   References: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7087284 www.cdc.gov/vaccines...

My Children are Vaccine-Damaged; are Yours?
Conclusion A growing number of today’s children suffer from vaccine damage. Most individuals do not make the connection between health problems and vaccines. When asked about the cause of autoimmune disorders, asthma, allergies, diabetes, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, autism, and other common childhood diseases and illness, the majority of health care providers advise patients that the causes are unknown. Doctors, including most integrative physicians, fail to make the connection to vaccines. It takes one moment to permanently damage the health of an adult or child, but takes a lifetime to t...

From a pediatrician to parents who refuse vaccines: We want the same thing
As a pediatrician practicing in the Bay Area in the wake of the measles outbreak and the upcoming elimination of personal belief exemptions in California with the passing of SB 277, I have an important message that I want to share with all of my parents who have chosen not to vaccinate, one that I don’t want to get lost in the conversation: I think you are good parents. You look at your beautiful, perfect two-month-old infant when I tell you that I want to inject them with vaccinations against polio, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, Haemophilus, and pneumococcal, and you ask me, “Isn’t that just too much?...

A huge host contribution to virus mutation rates
The high mutation rate of RNA viruses enables them to evolve in the face of different selection pressures, such as entering a new host or countering host defenses. It has always been thought that the source of such mutations are the enzymes that copy viral RNA genomes: they make random errors which they cannot correct. Now it appears that a cell enzyme makes an even greater contribution the mutation rate of an RNA virus. Deep sequencing was used to determine the mutation rate of HIV-1 in the blood of AIDS patients by searching for premature stop codons in open reading frames of viral RNA. Because stop codons terminate pro...

Have you heard of henoch-schonlein purpura?
I sure don’t remember this condition in nursing school! Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP) is a disease involving inflammation of small blood vessels. It most commonly occurs in children. The inflammation causes blood vessels in the skin, intestines, kidneys and joints to start leaking. The main symptom is a rash with numerous small bruises, which have a raised appearance over the legs or buttocks. Although HSP can affect people at any age, most cases occur in children between the ages of 2 and 11. It is more common in boys than girls. Adults with HSP are more likely to have more severe disease compared to children. HSP usua...

Are we to blame for the heroin epidemic?
This article blames physicians for opiate addiction – Doctors Play A Role In The Opioid Addiction Epidemic, Study Finds. To begin to figure out how many, a team at the Mayo Clinic, led by pain specialist Dr. W. Michael Hooten, analyzed the medical records of 293 patients given a short-term prescription for opiates for the first time in 2009. These patients were being treated for acute pain — from traumas such as sprained ankles or major surgeries — so their doctors did not expect them to become long-term users of painkillers. Yet just over 1 in 4 of these patients went on to use opioid painkillers for lon...

Infant Dies Following 5 Vaccine Doses
Life after losing a loved one to vaccines is very painful. With a heavy heart, we share Sebastian Ryan Morley’s story. He was a healthy boy whose life ended after routine vaccinations. Sebastian’s mother and grandmother have worked many years in both the veterinary and human healthcare fields. What they were taught in school led them to believe vaccines were safe, but now they will never vaccinate again. We thank his family for coming forward and sharing very important information the public isn’t usually made aware of. Sebastian’s grandmother, Valerie Murfin, shared: “On December 11, 2002, when my grandson Sebas...

Praluent, the Next Expensive "Game Changer," Blockbuster," "New Hope," - But Not Yet Shown to Benefit Patients
ConclusionsThe NEJM study was accompanied by an editorial by Stone and Lloyd-Jones(2) which documented that drugs previously shown to lower cholesterol were never proved to do any good for patients, and concluded,it would be premature to endorse these drugs for widespread use before the ongoing randomized trials, appropriately powered for primary end-point analysis and safety assessment, are available. After an FDA advisory committee recommended approval of aliromucab and another PCSK9 inhibitor in June, 2015, John Mandrola entitled a Medscape article,Dear FDA: Resist the Urge on PCSK9 DrugsHis reasons included lack o...

Seven Big Ideas From Spotlight Health
A few of us from Health Affairs were lucky enough to attend Spotlight Health at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Aspen, Colorado. Besides seeing Elmo, what were some of the most interesting takeaways? Here are just seven of the ideas that surprised us, impressed us, and even made us reexamine what we thought we already knew. 1. From What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction Predisposition to addiction is 50 percent hereditary, that is, determined by our genetics. Addiction is more influenced by genetics than many other conditions we tend to think of as running in our family, like high cholesterol and high blood pressure. 2....

Tattoos to Cover Mastectomy and Breast Reconstruction Scars on the Rise
For years, tattoos have been used to apply the finishing touches to breast reconstruction. Recently, 3D tattooing has also become available to add even more life-like results. Some breast cancer patients are now turning to more "traditional" ink-based tattoos to cover their mastectomy or breast reconstruction scars in more elaborate ways. If you've ever considered getting an elaborate tattoo to hide your breast cancer scars, rest assured you're not alone! I'm seeing more and more breast c...
