Demystifying Medicine Lecture Series Parkinson's is a long-term degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that causes tremors, slowness of movement, rigidity, and postural instability. The disease may also lead to depression, anxiety, and, in the advanced stages of the disease, dementia. The cause remains unknown, and there is no cure. However, treatment to ameliorate symptoms has advanced in promising ways over the past decade.
