Former Brookdale exec named CEO of local company
Loden Vision Centers has tapped a former Brookdale Senior Living Inc. executive as its next CEO.
Matthew Pierre now leads the locally based ophthalmology company’s C-suite, according to a news release.
Founded in 1999, Loden Vision Centers employs approximately 130 people and provides LASIK surgery at five area locations, according to the release. The company moved into a 44,000-square -foot headquarters at 520 Rivergate Parkway in Goodletsville in 2014 .

Former FDA Adviser Wants LASIK Eye Surgery Taken Off Market
BOSTON (CBS) — LASIK surgery has been used by an estimated 20 million Americans to improve distance vision, but a former FDA adviser is calling for it to be pulled from the market. Morris Waxler once voted to approve LASIK but, he tells CBS News he made a mistake.
After re-examining the documentation, Waxler says he found a complication rate between 10% and 30%, including vision loss, distorted vision and eye pain.
He is calling on the FDA to take LASIK off the market, but according to CBS News, the FDA says it has not found any new safety concerns associated with LASIK.

Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) Vision said today that it launched its Tecnis Eyhance intraocular lens intended to treat cataracts in Europe.
The newly launched next-gen IOL, which has already received CE Mark clearance in the European Union, is designed to provide high-quality vision at both immediate and far distances, which the company touted as “an important first for the monofocal IOL category.”
