Efficacy of chlorfenapyr-pyrethroid and piperonyl butoxide-pyrethroid long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) compared to pyrethroid-only LLINs for malaria control in C ôte d’Ivoire: a three group, cluster randomised trial
This study conducted in C ôte d’Ivoire will evaluate the efficacy on epidemiological and entomological outcomes of (1) the control arm: MAGNet® LN, which contains the pyrethroid, alpha-cypermethrin, (2) VEERALIN® LN, a net combining the synergist PBO and alpha-cypermethrin, and (3) Interceptor® G2 LN, which incorporate s chlorfenapyr and alpha-cypermethrin, two adulticides with different mechanisms of action. A total of 33 villages with an average of 200 households per village will be identified, mapped, and randomised in a ratio of 1:1:1. Delivering integrated strategies from a mobile unit to address the intertwining epidemics of HIV and addiction in people who inject drugs: the HPTN 094 randomized controlled trial protocol (the INTEGRA Study)
DiscussionThis trial responds to a need for evidence on using a “whole-person” strategy for delivering integrated HIV prevention and substance use treatment, while testing the use of a mobile unit that meets out-of-treatment PWID wherever they might be and links them to care systems and/or harm reduction services. Findings will be important in guiding policy for engaging PWID in HIV prevention or care, substance use treatment, and STI testing and treatment by addressing the intertwined epidemics of addiction and HIV among those who have many physical and geographic barriers to access care.Trial registrationClinicalTria...

Rudi Kundini, Pamoja Kundini (RKPK): study protocol for a hybrid type 1 randomized effectiveness-implementation trial using data science and economic incentive strategies to strengthen the continuity of care among people living with HIV in Tanzania
DiscussionInnovative strategies that recognize the dynamic process of lifelong retention in HIV care are urgently needed. Strategies such as conditional economic incentives are a simple and effective method for improving many health outcomes, including those on the HIV continuum. If coupled with other supportive services such as home visits (phase 1) or with tailored counselling (phase 2), economic incentives have the potential to strengthen engagement among the subpopulation of PLHIV who struggle with retention in care and could help to close the gap towards reaching global “95–95-95” goals for ending the AIDS epide...
