To develop research recommendations focused on clarifying the benefit and/or harms associated with (a) screening pregnant women and infants (6-24 mos.) for iron deficiency and (b) supplementing replete pregnant women and infants (6-24 mos.) with iron. In 2015 these preventive activities were determined by USPSTF to lack sufficient evidence to demonstrate benefit or harm.
