ADHD And Self-Esteem. What Lowers It, What Raises It?
Here are notes from my nonprofit Vancouver Adult ADD Support Group September 6th 2016 Meeting on the topic of ADHD and self-esteem. In my experience, most adults with ADHD have problems with self-esteem, regardless of external accomplishments.
I’ve coached hundreds of ADHD entrepreneurs and people in the workplace (I don’t coach students), and some have been very externally successful by many measures. Yet in doing phone coaching of ADHD adults since 2003 and running an adult ADHD support group since 2004, I have rarely met any adults with ADHD who do not have problems with self-esteem.

Please tell BC Pharmacare and health minister Terry Lake why they should cover long-acting ADHD medications vs just the short acting ones. CADDAC, CADDRA and some BC Psychiatrists and doctors are organizing this.

28% Of Referrals To A Mood & Anxiety Clinic Had Undiagnosed ADHD
This study shows what we adult ADHD coaches have known for a long time. Only 5% of adults have ADHD. But,
28.4% of referrals to a tertiary-care mood and anxiety clinic had undetected ADHD.
ADHD was also diagnosed in 22.6% of patients referred to the clinic for treatment-resistant depression.

Want to have your daughter or son get a proper diagnosis for ADHD in America? It helps if you’re white a study of 17,100 children for 8 years in Pediatrics revealed. This is despite minority children having more risk factors for ADHD.

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau Supports Screening Prisoners in Federal Jails for ADHD
This is why I asked Liberal party leader Justin Trudeau the question about if he’d commit to screening federal prisoners for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
21% To 45% 0f Prisoners Have ADHD 15 Peer Reviewed Studies Show. Crime and jail are costly to society, but treatment is cheap. I used 15 peer reviewed studies in my post because I thought the media and politicians could write off 2 or 3 but 15 would be harder.
We ADHD adults are only 5% of the population but we’re 4 to 9 times more likely to end up in jail than non ADDers. Federal, provincial and municipal jails should screen prisoners for ADHD....

BC ADHD Awareness Week 2015 is October 12-18th. Please Spread The Word
The fourth annual BC ADHD Awareness Week will be will be October 12-18th 2015.
The purpose of the week is to:
Raise awareness of ADHD in BC
Reduce stigma and misinformation on ADHD in adults and children
Show the economic and social costs of ignoring and stigmatizing ADHD
Provide factual information on ADHD
Encourage proper diagnosis and multimodal treatment of ADHD by trained professionals
Get more resources for diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in adults
Please help spread the word and we can always use volunteers to do tasks big and small in person, on the phone and online, since we have zero paid staff.
