Kenra Volume hairspray: How to find a cheaper version
SRG says…Is there a cheaper substitute for Kenra Volume 25 hair spray? The website claims its an excellent anti-humidity spray. The product has great reviews on Amazon. It’s a little expensive though and I’m wondering if I could find a similar but cheaper version. The Beauty Brains respond: According to their website, Kenra uses “An advanced non-flaking resin that provides maximum hold and curl retention” and has Aminomethyl Propanol (AMP) which is “a neutralizing agent that improves the re-wetting / re-styling ability of the hair.” Where oh where could we possibly find another hai...

Did Type 2 Diabetes Have Anything to Do With Taking My Father Away?
By Jan Chait Dad and my little brother were watching John Wayne movies one day last week when Dad gave a big sigh and, as quietly as that, passed over to a world where he could once again walk through his beloved woods, read the books he liked, and hold cogent conversations. His Type 2 diabetes hadn't been playing nice with him lately. Did that have anything to do with his death? Was it his age? He was 89, but my family tends to be long-lived: His mother was 96. That said, one evening we ate dinner on the shoreside and watched a massive container s...

She never used to do this. She's also been panting a lot. It's a different sort of panting from usual - almost a breathlessness. She climbed the stairs yesterday and was gasping at the top. Another curious thing is that she has been drinking a lot - vast quantities. Yes, Dr Grumble thought of diabetes. Mrs Grumble managed to catch some urine and there was no glucose. Even odder she has become ravenously hungry and has begun stealing food. She never us...

Are Micro Mist Steamers “Mist-er Right” for Your Hair?
Chi9ja asks…I recently heard of this micro mist steamer hair treatment and how its supposedly better than regular steamers or heat hair treatments. can someone anyone please clarify this issue up for me, will sitting under a regular dryer get the same results. The Beauty Brains respond:  This mister does appear to be an effective Extraction Tool.  The problem is the only thing that it’s extracting is hard earned money from your wallet. What is a micro mist steamer hair treatment? An ultrasonic steamer like the Micro Mist from Takara Belmont generates cool steam which supposedly swells the hair shaft and all...
