Lombard Medical debuts latest Aorfix stent graft
Lombard Medical Technologies (NSDQ:EVAR) today announced the debut of its Aorfix Plus stent graft for endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms.
The Aorfix Plus, designed to treat larger-size AAAs, won 510(k) clearance from the FDA for the device in February.
Irvine, Calif.-based Lombard said the 1st clinical cases using the device were successfully completed at sites including the Loma Linda Veterans Administration Hospital in California and Blount Memorial Hospital in Merryville, Tenn.

Medtronic touts 5-year Endurant AAA stent data
Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) said its Endurant abdominal aortic aneurysm stent is performing well, according to a 5-year follow-up study of the device. The announcement was made at the Society for Vascular Surgery’s annual meeting in Chicago last Saturday.
The 5-year, 150-patient study data reported a 99.2% freedom from aneurysm related mortality and an 89% freedom from secondary endovascular interventions, the Fridley, Minn.-based company said.

Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) this week said it took out a stake with an exclusive option to buy in Arsenal Medical subsidiary Arsenal AAA.
Arsenal AAA is developing a hemostatic foam and delivery system designed to reduce the chance of endoleaks after the placement of a stent graft to treat an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Arsenal president & CEO Maria Palasis told MassDevice.com that the product is designed “to controllably fill cavities in the presence of blood flow.”

Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) yesterday said it took out a stake with an option to buy on Arsenal Medical and its hemostatic foam.
