Richard: Down 44 lbs, no more glaucoma

Sure, the Wheat Belly lifestyle achieves weight loss in the majority of people, often dramatic. But weight loss alone does not necessarily restore full health. Removing the inflammatory, autoimmune-triggering, gastrointestinally disruptive components of wheat and grains is what leads to so many of the health benefits of this lifestyle. Here are Richard’s comments on his Wheat Belly experience. “The lifestyle you prescribe means no ‘rebound’ with weight loss. I have kept well over 20 kgs (44 pounds) off for 4 years. The left photo was at a conference in 2011 and the right photo was at the University of Rwanda on March 4th this year (2015). As an educator (Associate Professor), I am familiar with the arguments against some wheat theories (anecdotal vs scientific), but when the anecdote comes from me and I feel great year after year, I’ll take it! I am 46. When I was 40, I was obese, had chronic health issues, including glaucoma that was highly aggressive. Since stopping wheat, I am now at a very stable weight (73 kgs at 171 cm) and other health issues have gone– even the glaucoma has stabilized.” Doesn’t he look terrific? In addition to being thinner, you can–as in so many other Wheat Belly successes–make out the loss of facial edema signifying the reversal of inflammation. Good job, Richard!
