Case report: First case of intracranial abscess treated with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Hong Kong
We report on a 53 year old male suffering from intracranial abscess due to intracranial spread of infection from necrotic tissue in nasopharynx. He was suffering from recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma with chemoradiotherapy done. Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a new modality of adjunctive treatment available in recent two years in Hong Kong. This patient is the first intracranial abscess patient being treated with HBOT in Hong Kong. We notice a rapid improvement in his cognitive level as well as neurological deficit after a series of 20 HBOT treatment sessions.
