Obesity increases the risk for upper extremity deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients with upper extremity central venous catheters

This study demonstrated increased odds of UEVTE for patients with increased BMI. Practitioners should assume a greater risk for UEVTE and PE in patients with increased BMI when considering CVCs.
