Comment on: The association between bariatric surgery and cataract: a propensity score-matched cohort study

Cataract formation is a common cause of visual deficiency leading to blindness. It has numerous known risk factors which include obesity [1]. The effects of weight-loss secondary to metabolic surgery on the development of this condition, however, had not yet been studied. The authors of this manuscript have performed a sophisticated propensity score-matched sequential cohort study with data from the highly validated Swedish healthcare registries [2]. They should be congratulated on this important addition to the literature.
