Could female steroids lead to osteonecrosis of the jaw?

This study present the first known case of Tibolone related osteonecrosis of the jaw and explain the relationship between the drug and the osteonecrosis pathogenesis. One hypothesis for the small number of cases relating Tibolone and medication related osteonecrosis of the jaws is that the drug promote a different impact on bone metabolism. In this cases it is mandatory a local trauma. On the illustrative case we present within this letter, the installation of implants was what triggered the alterations and the necrosis. All surgeons should be aware of these drugs, and all the patients in the group of menopausal conditions should be asked about the use of this medication.
