Complete internal carotid artery coil after huge carotid body tumor resection

AbstractIn this brief article, we present an 82-year-old female who came to our care due to a carotid body tumor of the right side of the neck. After an uneventful removal of the tumor, we discovered a 360-degree coil in the internal carotid artery which was not observed in the preoperative imaging. After resection, we believe that the free space left by the large tumor and prior mass effect of the tumor on the internal carotid artery have led to carotid coiling.
