Impact of the mindfulness ‐based psychoeducation applied to people having a myocardial infarction on mindfulness and posttraumatic growth

This study aimed to examine the effect of mindfulness-based psychoeducation provided t individuals with previous myocardial infarction on their posttraumatic growth and mindfulness levels.Design and MethodsThe sample of this study, which was quasi-experimental with a pre-test posttest follow-up pattern, consisted of 50 patients, 25 in the intervention group and 25 in the control group. The mindfulness-based psychoeducation lasted a total of 8 weeks.FindingsThe mindfulness-based psychoeducation program strongly affected the mindfulness levels of the individuals with previous myocardial infarction in the intervention group, but only partially affected their posttraumatic growth.Application InferencesMindfulness-based psychoeducation can be used to support mindfulness and posttraumatic growth in individuals who have suffered a myocardial infarction.
