Atrial fibrillation and the risk of dementia

A retrospective cohort study conducted by Dr. Rouch et al published in American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry reported that atrial fibrillation was associated with a greater risk of dementia in older veterans (adjusted odds ratio  = 1.14 and 95% confidence interval = 1.07-1.22).1 The result was compatible with previous research (hazard ratio =1.52 and 95% confidence interval=1.43-1.63).2 Some points are discussed here.
