Congenital Vesicovaginal Fistula-A Rare Cause of Urinary Incontinence in Adulthood

Urinary incontinence due to vesicovaginal fistula is an extremely distressing condition, with the most common cause of this condition in developed countries being iatrogenic injury and obstetric complications being the leading cause in developing countries. VVF due to congenital etiology is an extremely rare entity which can present both in childhood or adulthood [1,2]. While congenital VVF can occur in isolation, more commonly it coexists with urological anomalies like ectopic ureter or genital anomalies causing vaginal obstruction like distal vaginal agenesis or transverse vaginal septum, which is attributed to the close embryological relation of the M üllerian ducts, Wolffian ducts, and urogenital sinus [1–4].
