Femoral vein leiomyosarcoma mimicking thrombosis
Leiomyosarcoma, a smooth muscle connective tissue tumor, is a rare form of cancer accounting for 5 –10% of soft tissue sarcomas [1]. Usually, venous leiomyosarcomas arise from the saphenous, femoral, and jugular veins [2-3]. In daily practice, it represents a diagnostic challenge since it is often misdiagnosed as deep venous thrombosis, leading to a delayed treatment [3].
