Moratoria on utility shutoffs and evictions reduced COVID-19 infection rates

(Duke University) An analysis of local statistics and policies for 3,141 US counties finds that moratoriums on eviction reduced the number of COVID-19 cases by 3.8 percent and COVID-related deaths by 11 percent. Utility disconnection moratoria reduced cases by 4.4 percent and deaths by 7.4 percent.
