Midwife to Medicine

Hi all, I'm sure you get many posts like this but here goes anyway! So, I am now a qualified midwife-have been for around 2 years. Have always wanted to study medicine, unfortunately at school didn't have the best grades despite lots of extra work and was told no chance-don't even bother applying. I also do not come from a family who could afford to support me financially through the course and so this was another factor. However, managed to study midwifery-got to uni, was diagnosed as dyslexic and graduated with a 1st class degree. Having spent alot of my time whilst at uni with med students and from what I observe at work, I have realized there is a very different culture among doctors which is generally (though always exceptions to the rule etc) much more inclusive and supportive rather than accusatory and hostile as can be the case at times with midwives! I feel that they have a much better work/life balance that is supportive towards hobbies and sport outside of clinical hours. Having quite a few friends who are med students or doctors I have been encouraged to apply for GEM but I am concerned re the over-subscription of the courses and my dyslexia that I would struggle to get through the interview process or the UK/GAMSAT tests. Does anyone know if there is any support given to dyslexic students?
