Fetal sheep support the development of hematopoietic cells in vivo from human induced pluripotent stem cells

De novo generation of human hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) with long-term engrafting capacity and multilineage differentiation potential has been a longstanding goal for both fundamental research on hematopoietic ontology and potential clinical applications [1 –4]. Multiple protocols for the production of pluripotent stem cell (PSC)–derived hematopoietic cells have been developed, including timed addition of cytokines and morphogens, co-culture with mouse stromal cells, embryoid bodies and the combination of these [5–10].
