Human basophils release the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 following stimulation with α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone

CAPSULE SUMMARYWe identified a highly novel anti-inflammatory role for basophils through the actions of α-MSH which induces IL-10 release in these cells, thereby potentially limiting Th2 type immune responses.
