Gap to End-TB targets in eastern China: a joinpoint analysis from population-based notification data in Zhejiang Province, China, 2005-2018

Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb), which can transmission through aerosol or droplets. M.tb typically affects the lung, but can also affect other sites (extrapulmonary TB, EPTB) (WHO, 2020). Pulmonary TB (PTB) cases play a key role in the transmission of M.tb. Bacteriologically confirmed PTB patients, namely PTB cases with sputum smear-positive or culture-positive or molecular test positive, are more capable of transmitting M.tb (Behr et al., 1999; Grzybowski et al., 1975; Hernandez-Garduno et al., 2004; Tostmann et al., 2008).
