Calcified nodule: A rare but important cause of acute coronary syndrome with worse clinical outcomes

Calcified nodule (CN) has been reported as the least frequent cause of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), including sudden coronary death1. CN is defined as a lesion with fibrous cap disruption that is associated with eruptive, dense, calcific nodules with the presence of luminal thrombus1. Due to the low prevalence of CN, detailed studies about the etiology, as well as clinical outcomes, are limited.
