Pyroptosis in liver disease.

Pyroptosis in liver disease. Rev Esp Enferm Dig. 2020 Nov 25;: Authors: Jiang Y Abstract Pyroptosis is an inflammatory cell death that is dependent on caspase. Similarly to "necrosis", pyroptosis is not only accidental, but is also a specific form of programmed cell death, with the morphological characteristics of formation of pores on the cell membrane, cell swelling and rupture of the plasma membrane. Recent studies have demonstrated that pyroptosis plays an important role in the occurrence and development of liver diseases. Here, we focus on the mechanisms of pyroptosis, as well as the relationship between pyroptosis and liver diseases. PMID: 33233902 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
