The treatment-travel tradeoff of colorectal cancer care

Metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) presents as a challenging diagnosis for providers and patients. Despite modern advancement in chemotherapeutics, survival of patients who present with metastatic disease remains dismal with an overall 5-year survival rate of 14%.1 Metastatic CRC requires multidisciplinary care between multiple specialties for the most favorable outcomes, though such teams require a significant infrastructure and attendant resources to support them.2
