Intercultural differences in healthcare experiences of Latinos in a nontraditional destination area.

Discussion: Mexicans and Guatemalans show different patterns of health care engagement and express distinct concerns. Future work should consider the role of health literacy in informing the heterogenous experiences and needs of Latinos from diverse countries of origin. Further, interventions should train health care providers to provide culturally sensitive services, with interpreters available in multiple languages to address heterogenous language needs.
