Creating a unicorn: developing a perfect partial hospitalization program

There is great variability in the provisions of intermediate levels of care for youth with serious mental health difficulties. A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is one such service that has served as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization, as well as a step down or step up from other levels of service intensity. A PHP allows for accessible intensive treatment for youth in their home environment, focusing on reintegration into the community and schools. Differences exist in program descriptions, service provisions, and intensity of clinical presentation of youth.
