3.1 adolescents ’ motivated behavior predicts anhedonia and is associated with inflammation via neural response to reward

Inflammation is related to affective disorders, potentially through influence on neural reward circuitry, reward-motivated behavior, and the symptom of anhedonia, or difficulty with enjoyment of or motivation to obtain pleasant experiences. This pathway could contribute to the development of affective psychopathology in adolescence, a vulnerable period of ongoing development in reward systems.
