Local Anesthetic Injection during Minimally Invasive Lumbar Spinal Fusion: Impact on Length of Stay

Current practice in minimally invasive lumbar fusion surgery (MILFS) includes local anesthetic infiltration of subcutaneous tissues to assist with postoperative pain control, with the expectation of a shorter length of stay (LOS). To date there has been no study investigating the impact of such injection on LOS after spine surgery. This investigation assesses the impact of subcutaneous local anesthetic injection on LOS after minimally invasive lumbar fusion.
