Translational research – Promoting quality of life and reducing health disparities among children with chronic conditions and their families

Promoting quality of life among children with chronic conditions and their families is a key focus of pediatric nursing. The linkage between quality of life and health disparities cannot be minimized. Indeed, health disparities intensify the demands of chronic conditions on children and their families with respect to access to care and treatment. As children and families balance the demands of chronic conditions, parenting and caregiving become more complex in managing chronic conditions, while meeting the health and developmental needs of their children (Christian, 2010, 2016).
