Anesthetic Management and Outcomes For MRI-Guided Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT) For Seizure Focus in Pediatrics: A Single Centre Experience With 10 Consecutive Patients.

Anesthetic Management and Outcomes For MRI-Guided Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT) For Seizure Focus in Pediatrics: A Single Centre Experience With 10 Consecutive Patients. Paediatr Anaesth. 2020 May 23;: Authors: Levin DN, McClain CD, Stone SSD, Madsen JR, Soriano S Abstract MRI-guided laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) is a stereotactically guided percutaneous minimally invasive procedure, which delivers light energy to tissue via a fiberoptic catheter, resulting in selective thermal ablation. Its use in drug-resistant epilepsy has increased because safety and efficacy have been well-established in adult and pediatric populations 1-4 . The anesthetic management of this procedure in children has not been previously reported. In our pediatric institution, MRI guided LITT is performed using the Visualaseā„¢ system (Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN). The typical procedural flow is described in Figure 1.
