Shock after thoracic drainage

An 83-year-old patient with a left pulmonary adenocarcinoma was admitted to the hospital for ipsilateral stage 1 empyema. An ultrasound-guided drainage with a 14 Fr pigtail catheter was performed. In the hours after the drainage, she presented a state of shock with a hemoglobin drop of 30g/L. Initial hemodynamic instability quickly responded to intravenous saline perfusion.
