Microribonucleic acids in sperm and spent culture media: a new direction in predictive diagnostics or another disappointment?

Morphology is the traditional method of selecting embryos for transfer and sperm for intracytoplasmic sperm injection. However, this approach has its limitations. Use of other embryo selection methods, such as time-lapse morphokinetic imaging and preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy, as well as diagnostic and selection techniques for sperm including sperm deoxyribonucleic acid fragmentation index and intracytoplasmic morphologic sperm injection, have been used with varying degrees of success.
