Therapeutic vibration in claudicants

Query a vascular surgeon regarding the effects of vibration on the human body and one thing will likely come to mind: the deleterious effect on the digital circulation, the circulatory component of the hand-arm vibration syndrome. Surprisingly, therapeutic vibration was first (as far a history can tell us) used by the ancient Greeks to facilitate wound healing. The scientific application of vibration therapy was first investigated in Russia during the space race in the 1960s. Subsequently, the putative beneficial effects of vibration have become seemingly innumerable.
