Antibiotic use and serious complications following acute otitis media and acute sinusitis: a retrospective cohort study

Data from patients diagnosed with acute otitis media (AOM) or acute sinusitis (AS) over 20-yr period concludes serious complications (brain abscess/acute mastoiditis) following AOM or AS are rare, and antibiotics are associated with lower odds of developing these complications.
