HNF4α contributes to glucose formation in aged rat hepatocytes.

This study suggests that the mild hypoxic conditions in response to aging-dependent hepatic structural changes may contribute to the induction of the gluconeogenic enzyme PEPCK through HNF4α protein stabilization.
