New Report Evaluates PEPFAR Investments in Strengthening the Health Workforce in Rwanda

A new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine examines how Human Resources for Health (HRH) in Rwanda— a program funded in part by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) from 2012 to 2017— affected morbidity and mortality outcomes for people living with HIV. HRH Rwanda aimed to increase the number and quality of physicians, nurses, and midwives specializing in HIV care. The report offers recommendations and lessons that other countries can apply to improve HIV workforce development and strengthen their health systems at large. Read More
