CAD/CAM Implant Abutments: Peri-implant Hard and Soft Tissue Response with Up to 4 Years of Follow-up- A Retrospective Cohort Study Evaluation. Int J Periodontics Restorative Dent. 2020 Mar/Apr;40(2):193-201 Authors: Parpaiola A, Toia M, Norton M, Cecchinato D, Bressan E, Lops D Abstract This retrospective study evaluated hard and soft tissue response and reported mechanical and technical complications around computer-aided design/computer-assisted manufactured (CAD/CAM) abutments. A total of 123 patients restored with titanium, gold-hue titanium, and zirconia CAD/CAM abutments were included (N = 291). Each patient was followed up for at least 2 years. Clinical and radiographic parameters were assessed annually and complications were recorded. No implant or reconstruction failures were reported. One fracture of a zirconia abutment occurred. The prosthetic survival rate after 4 years of function for restorations and abutments was 100% and 99.66%, respectively. No significant differences in biologic and radiographic indices were found. The bleeding on probing index was positive at 42% of implant sites, and it had no significant correlation with the overall change in marginal bone level (0.02 mm) of bone gain. The short-term survival of CAD/CAM abutments was reliable, no matter of the material used for manufacturing. PMID: 32032402 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSION: Implants placed in the esthetic zone with GBR or complete native bone coverage showed successful esthetic outcomes and satisfied patients with predictable clinical and radiographic parameters after more than 1 year of loading. Within the limits of this study, GBR for a small buccal bone defect seems to be a reliable technique with good esthetics and patient-reported outcomes. We report a case of generalized chronic periodontitis requiring periodontal treatment including regenerative therapy. The patient was a 57-year-old who man presented with the chief complaint of gingival swelling and mobile teeth in the right maxillary molar region. An initial examination revealed 55.3% of sites with a probing depth of ≥4 mm and 24.0% with bleeding on probing. Radiographic examination revealed vertical bone resorption in teeth #16, 17, 25, 26, 37, and 45; horizontal resorption was also noted in other areas. Based on a clinical diagnosis of severe chronic periodontitis, initial periodontal therapy consist...

We report the safety and effectiveness of this technique.MethodsWe conducted a retrospective analysis of 16 consecutive patients who employed this technique from January 2015 to March 2018. The radioactive feeding tube was made by binding the125I seed chain on the feeding tube. Under fluoroscopic guidance, the tube was inserted into the obstructed esophagus, with the seed chain crossing over the segment of malignant esophageal obstruction. Technical success rate, dysphagia score, procedure time and complications were analyzed. Kaplan –Meier analysis was used to analyze the survival time.ResultsThe radioactive feeding...

Conclusion: Within the limits of this retrospective study, it can be concluded that postmenopausal osteoporosis/osteopenia does not affect MBL and long-term implant success. The findings suggest that dental implant therapy is a reliable treatment modality in these patients to improve the quality of life by increasing function and aesthetics.

ConclusionJejunal telangiectasia with bleeding is a very rare intestinal vascular disease, which is difficult to identify and diagnose clinically. Therefore, the possibility of this disease should be considered in patients with negative results through some examinations such as gastroscopy, enteroscopy, gastrointestinal barium meal radiography, etc. In order to treat in time and prevent bleeding

Paracentesis can be a quick and simple procedure with the right equipment and a well-rehearsed approach. It's important to practice this skill in the procedure lab and to familiarize yourself with the kit in your department a few times a year. This month, we focus on paracentesis set-up and basics, and next month we will review the nuts and bolts of completing the procedure.Important equipment for paracentesis: Five or six collection bottles, antiseptic prep, and a paracentesis kit. Consider longer needles for abdominal walls thicker than 2.5 cm.Grab the ultrasound and a pen. Position your patient at a 45-degree angle, ...

Conclusion EUS-guided coil embolization in combination with hemostatic AGS is a novel method for management of bleeding GV with high clinical and technical success rates, low risk for complications and favorable safety profile when compared to cyanoacrylate. This technique theoretically minimizes embolic complications and need for re-intervention. Further studies are required to compare this modality.
