Neisseria meningitidis carriage in indigenous peoples of Amazonas State, Brazil
We report the results of an investigation of Neisseria meningitidis carriage in indigenous communities with different contact patterns with non-indigenous in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. A feature of the nature of this bacterium is its transmission from person to person, which normally results in asymptomatic pharyngeal carriage, and progression to disease is an exception.
