Toll-like receptor 4 is a therapeutic target for prevention and treatment of liver failure

TLR4 is mediating endotoxin induced tissue injury in liver failure and cirrhosis is associated with a TLR4 related sensitization to endotoxins. TLR4 signaling inhibition by TAK-242 ameliorates organ injury and systemic inflammation in rodent models if acute and acute-on-chronic liver failure.
