Improving Medical Student Training in Palliative Care: A Statewide Collaborative (FR400)

Education in the basic principles of palliative care is inconsistent across U.S. medical schools, despite the development of national competencies in palliative care for medical students. In Massachusetts, we have created an unprecedented collaborative of all four medical schools in the state to improve palliative care education, with an initial focus on serious illness communication. Our goal is to ensure all students acquire the foundational knowledge, skills, and inspiration to care for seriously ill patients, with commitment to lifelong learning and deliberate practice.
