188. The Role of Body Dissatisfaction in Mental Health Outcomes of Adolescents
Obesity has been associated with adverse psychosocial outcomes including depression and body dissatisfaction. However, not all individuals with overweight/obesity (OV/OB) are equally susceptible to these correlates. We consider the effect of body dissatisfaction on mental health outcomes. This project examines relationships between BMI; body dissatisfaction; and mental health defined by self-reported anxiety/depression while accounting for demographics and covariates including substance use, reports of experiencing abuse, and bullying.
